Citrine stone belongs to the quartz family and is composed of iron and silicon oxide. Occasionally, it is known as "yellow hyaline quartz". Its yellow colour is due to the small amount of iron oxide present. The origin of citrine stone comes from the Latin "citrus", meaning lemon, and is directly related to its colour.
