Description:

Two varieties of Septaria can be distinguished: one that is predominantly beige, and the one known as "wild", much darker and sometimes almost black inside, with magnificent golden reflections. Both are sublime.

Each Septaria nodule is unique. Basically it is a concretion of bio-sedimentary origin which was formed during the Cretaceous and Paleogene periods, 50 to 70 million years ago.

The name comes from the Latin word "septum" which means "separation", and refers to the cracks/separations in this type of rock.
