Description :
Chlorite is an alumino-silicate mineral of iron or magnesium, generally of greenish colour, and close to mica by its structure and its physicochemical properties. The name "chlorite" comes from the Latin chloritis ("green-coloured stone"), itself transcribed from the Greek χλωρá¿–τις (khlôritis). The latter term derives from χλωρÏŒς (chloros), "green", in reference to the colour of these minerals. This rock therefore does not contain chlorine, but only shares a common etymology. Most chlorites are green in colour, but there are specimens of varying colours: yellow, red or white. Quartz deposits with chlorite inclusions are relatively common in alpine cracks but also in Brazil and Madagascar.
