The main deposits of this stone are located in Madagascar, Australia, the United States, Canada, France, Mexico, and Russia. The spectrolite is a very particular variety of labradorite, it is the only one which gathers all its chromatic colours. Spectrolite belongs to the group of feldspars. These are minerals with a lamellar structure that have a vitreous luster. It consists mainly of calcium and sodium aluminosilicate. The Schiller phenomenon, also called the adularescence effect, sometimes gives this mineral a metallic sheen.
